CONNORS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Lewiston, Maine
Project Summary
Connors Elementary school is a new two-story facility with 143,545 square feet of gross floor area. The exterior walls are clad in masonry veneer and metal panels over continuous insulation and an air barrier membrane. Glazing systems include aluminum windows and curtainwall systems. The roofing system is a single-ply thermoplastic overlay roof membrane.
BPA furnished a full scope of building envelope commissioning services including: design and construction document reviews; building envelope commissioning specifications; submittal and shop drawing review assistance; a pre-installation conference for the building envelope trades; and periodic construction progress reviews. BPA also was tasked with performing functional testing on the fenestration systems, which included air and water leakage testing under static pressure. BPA analyzed test results, analyzed failure modes to identify root causes of uncontrol water leakage, and identified a scope of remedial work to fully identify and correct fabrication and installation deficiencies.
The project was completed and occupied at the start of the 2019/2020 school year. See the project here.
